Book Review – Cal by Megan O’Brien (Ride Series #5)

More than six months ago, Jill put her past in the rearview camirror in search of a fresh start. Determined to start over, moving to Hawthorne seemed like the perfect place for new beginnings. The trouble is, sometimes the past just won’t stay buried.  When Jill and her son are threatened, one man will stop at nothing to keep them safe.

As President of the Knight’s MC, Cal Jackson is a force to be reckoned with. He is a man who consumes. A man who claims.  And he wants Jill.  Can Jill put her fears aside in order to let Cal in? Will she be safe long enough to try? Because she knows that once she does, life will never be the same.

4 1/2 out of 5 stars

Cal is the fifth and final book in the “Ride” series.  Cal may be my favorite guy from the entire series.

Cal is the “Prez” of the motorcycle club, and Jill is Sophie’s best friend.  Jill moved to town 6 months earlier with her one year old son, after leaving Texas and an abusive husband.  Cal makes it known from the beginning that he is interested in Jill; Jill is not very trusting of men, having come out of an abusive relationship.

Jill’s past comes back to haunt her, and Cal steps in to assure her safety.  Cal is much older than Jill – 15 years (he’s 47; she’s 32).  He is Cole’s dad and a grandfather.  But I’ll be damned if he wasn’t just the most awesome guy.  He took instantly to Jill’s son, and came through for her when other family issues.  He was sweet, thoughtful and loving.

I liked Jill.  She had a rough past but had a big heart.  Cal was the best.  I loved him.  Just loved him.

The epilogue in this book was really awesome.  One of the best I’ve ever read.  I loved this series and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Happy reading.
