Review

This book has been sitting on my kindle for a few years.  I don’t know what prompted me to read it, but I am so glad I did, because I freaking loved it!

Shine Not Burn is the story of Andie Marks, a young lawyer who goes to Vegas with her girlfriends for a bachelorette party.  While there, she runs (literally) into Mack Mackenzie, a real life cowboy from Oregon.  Andie and Mack hit it off immediately, and one thing leads to another.

I can’t give too much away without spoiling the book.  The characters in this book were great.  I loved Mack. Andie was a little annoying at parts, but she was an overall likable girl.  Andie was a girl with a plan, and she was very rigid about her plan.  Her mother made terrible choices when it came to men, so Andie felt she needed to protect herself – hence the list.

I loved her two friends, Kelly and Candace, and her legal secretary, Ruby, and I LOVED Mack’s family.  Especially Mack’s parents, Maeve and Angus.

Someone else described this book as “Sweet Home Alabama meets the Hangover”.  I would say that’s an accurate description.  If those two movies appeal to you, then you will like this book.  There is a sequel that I’m trying to get my hands on too.

Happy reading.
