Book Review – Incinerate by Tessa Teevan (Explosive #2)

When Knox Wellington opens the door to Charlie Davenport, he’s not expecting the fiery brunette with whiskey colored eyes and a feisty personality. Sparks fly immediately, even though their initial meeting is nothing but hostile. Their chemistry is undeniable, but the chip on Knox’s shoulder threatens to destroy any hope of him wooing the sweet, southern volunteer sent to help with his rehabilitation.
Little does he know she’s no Southern Belle, as she gives as good as she can take. As unexpected circumstances push them closer together, heads butt, patience is tested, and flames ignite as they dance around their mutual attraction, both of them jaded from broken pasts. They’ve both been burned before, so when their feelings of lust, desire, and wanting are inflamed in the heat of the moment, will they finally be able to get over the pain of the past or will their relationship be reduced to ashes before it can ever really begin?
4 out of 5 stars

I have found a new group of guys to love and they are all Army explosive experts!  Incinerate follows up Ignite and is the story of Knox Wellington, best friend of Jace, who was also injured in the line of duty.  I love that this story overlaps the first story, and I LOVE that it’s told in the first person, alternating POV.

Knox has issues.  He’s been hurt, badly.  He doesn’t trust.  Then Charlie shows up and “blows” that up (pun intended).  Charlie was a great heroine.  She was tough as hell, literally (she boxed a lot).  She didn’t put up with shit from Knox, and he started giving her shit literally the moment they met.  Charlie had been hurt too, and was also guilty of having trust issues.  But Charlie was open to dealing with them, where Knox was not.

There was a sub-plot about Knox’s brother that was just plain stupid and bizarre.  I didn’t understand it or like it at all.  I did like his younger brother Cohen a lot – wouldn’t mind a book about him:)

The relationship built at a nice pace, and the chemistry between these two – wow.  The sex scenes were hot.  Overall, this was a good read and I’m loving this series.
