My Coyote Ugly Life by Jessica Spoon

Goodreads Summary

“How on earth do I get myself in these situations? I swear it’s like a never ending bad dream. One of all my mistakes that continuously bite me in my size ten ass.”

Azaria ‘Ree’ Gable had her one experience with heartbreak and that was enough for her. She’s perfectly satisfied with her ‘One Month Rule’ and doesn’t need her life changing anytime soon.

When circumstances take her back home, she learns things have changed…
A lot…

First and foremost being with the complete and astonishing overhaul and revamp of the Belton Police Department, where apparently the application was changed to state ‘Ugly Men Need Not Apply’ and the only requirement is ‘How Well Do You Look In This Uniform?’

Ree unexpectedly catches the eye of the new ‘gina-quiver inducing Chief of Police Grayson Cole, which starts an endless game of cat and mouse.

Will Ree let go of her misconceptions about relationships and allow Grayson to show her how beautiful life can really be?

Review

What a refreshingly funny read this was!!  Was this book perfect?  No.  But it had me hooked from start to finish, and has left me wanting more books.

Ree (short for Azaria) Gable is a late twenties party animal semi-slut.  She takes guys home, does the deed, and sneaks out in the night before they wake up.  Ree is moving home to her hometown in Iowa, from Des Moines.  Before she moves back, she ends up hammered and “coyote uglied” (for those of you unfamiliar with the term, it’s when you wake up next to a stranger with your arm stuck underneath them, trying to remove your arm without waking said stranger).  Once back in her hometown, she literally runs into the man she left in the middle of the night – and he’s pissed about it.

Grayson Cole, alpha male, Chief of Police, didn’t appreciate Ree ditching out in the middle of the night on him.  Once he realizes she lives in his town, he sets out to make her his.  Hilarity ensues.

The “supporting cast” in this book is great.  Ree’s best friends are hilarious.  Her parents and siblings are great.  The other cops are great.    The only thing that didn’t make sense was what happened with Ree at the end (I won’t spoil it).  It was semi unnecessary and came out of left field.  But the rest of the story was great, and I hope there are at least 6 more!!
